Communication doesn't have to cost the earth…
10 February, 2009
Last week, ShP Limited opened the doors of its first retail shop: talk is cheap. Like all leading providers, talk is cheap offers the very latest in mobile technology but it clearly differs one thing—its prices!
Offering quality reconditioned products, talk is cheap offers high tech items at low prices. To give an example, a high spec, big brand laptop can be purchased for under £150—something very hard to come by these days!
The shop, located on 5 Moor Lane, Lancaster will also offer to buy back any old mobile phones you have in return for instant cash over the counter or in store credit—even if they are non-working! In fact, in some cases, your old mobile that has been sat in a drawer for the past 12 months could fetch you up to £300 depending on the make, model and its condition. Talk is cheap also provides refurbished SIM-free handsets from as little as £10 and accessories including Bluetooth headsets from £5.
Sound too good to be true?
Every year, the UK throws away an estimated 1.2 million tons of electronic waste, including computers, mobiles phones and other gadgets, that can either be reused or recycled into other products. Unfortunately this ‘e-waste’ often ends up in UK landfill sites where it can potentially threaten our environment and pollute eco-systems.
Operating under the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive), talk is cheap is able to offer such high quality at affordable prices through purchasing unwanted devices such as mobiles and laptops for reconditioning and then reintroduce them back into the market to satisfy global demand. The whole process cuts down on the production of new equipment, protects our environment from e-waste and benefits buyers with reclaimed devices at affordable prices.
Customers of talk is cheap can also expect to find a large range of reconditioned PAYG mobile phones for sale at bargain prices, mobile internet dongles, PAYG SIM cards and top-up points, a mobile phone unlocking service and phone accessories.
Craig Smith, managing director of talk is cheap, said:
“Talk is cheap will enable us to bring high-quality products to people at excellent prices. Some may view reconditioned products as outdated but that’s far from the truth. The products that we offer in store can be as little as 12 months old and all products come with 12 month warranties so I encourage people to come and see just how much they can save.”
Attending the launch of the shop, Lancaster Mayor Keith Budden commented:
“With the credit crisis looming over our heads I think that talk is cheap is a fantastic way for people to make some easy money for recycling their handsets and purchasing high spec equipment at affordable prices. Furthermore, the fact that all products which pass through the store are either refurbished goods or are reintroduced back into the global market is excellent for our environment.”
