Marks & Spencer used to tempt recyclers

1 October, 2008

Marks & Spencer's Gift Vouchers have been added as a new redemption partner for mobile phone recycling company ShP Limited.

Under consumer facing brand mopay.co.uk, ShP Limited will now offer the general public a recycling service that rewards them with cash or Marks & Spencer gift vouchers in return for their old, redundant mobile phones.

Users will be able to receive up to £400 in cash or vouchers depending on the value of their redundant mobile phones by simply following the online steps at the mopay.co.uk website.

If deposited in landfill sites, mobile phones can leak cadmium, lithium and mercury into the earth which can eventually end up in our ecosystem.

Simon Walsh, Sales and Marketing Director at ShP, said:

This is a great opportunity for us to promote our service to the general public. There are over 100 million unused handsets in the country – most of which either gather dust in people’s drawers or end up in landfill. We hope working with M&S will encourage people to dispose of their old phones in an environmentally friendly way, while in the process, reward themselves.

John Bohan of Marks & Spencer says:

Gift vouchers are the perfect choice to help reward people for recycling old mobile phones. Our vouchers can be redeemed at any M&S store, where you'll find truly tempting offers from the latest fashions to latest must have technology gadgets.
