ShP for Charity team up with world’s oldest charity, The Horse Trust

18 May, 2009

ShP for Charity, ShP Limited’s dedicated charity division, has today announced that it will be providing a new mobile phone recycling solution for supporters of The Horse Trust, the world’s oldest horse charity, so they can turn old mobile phones into donations.

Based in the Chiltern Hills, The Horse Trust was originally set up in 1886 to help the working horses of London. Since then their work has grown to include a retirement home for over 100 horses, ponies and donkeys as well as funding equine welfare and research.

With over 1 million horses in private ownership throughout the UK, The Horse Trust is hoping to encourage them to think more about the environment as well as raising funds for the charity.

Simon Walsh, sales and marketing director at ShP for Charity said:

We are very proud to be working with The Horse Trust, the world’s oldest horse charity. The link between the equestrian community and recycling to help the environment is very strong and we are all hoping for a great response to the campaign.

He continued:

ShP for Charity already works with hundreds of national and international charities who are using mobile phone recycling as a way to generate extra funds from things that people throw away. With the recession reducing the amount of donations to charities, recycling can create a great new source of revenue.

The Horse Trust supporters will be able to donate their unwanted mobile phones using the freepost address FREEPOST SHP SOLUTIONS, LANCASTER ensuring a note is enclosed indicating their donation is for The Horse Trust. Alternatively visitors to The Horse Trust’s Home of Rest for Horses in Speen, Buckinghamshire can bring their old phones to the office and the charity will forward them to ShP on their behalf.

For those supporters who want to start their own local collection campaign posters can be provided by ShP for Charity or The Horse Trust

It is estimated that there are over 100 million old mobile phones lying around in drawers and desks in the UK alone, with an average household having at least three, which could be turned into much needed cash.
