Background
Since 1990, World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF UK) has been dedicated to providing research and education programmes on the role of diet and physical activity in the prevention of cancer.
WCRF UK believes reducing our risk of cancer is about making long-term changes to the foods we eat and how active we are, as well as maintaining a healthy weight.
Challenge
In order to achieve its mission of funding research on the relationship of nutrition, physical activity and weight management to cancer risk, WCRF UK looks to vital donations and funding programmes that can supply a regular source of capital. For the charity, it is important that every possible revenue stream is identified to generate funds and support the cause.
Solution
Approached by ShP Limited in 2002, WCRF UK agreed to implement a mobile phone recycling program that would be introduced to its supporters in order to capitalise on the 100 million plus redundant mobile phones the UK holds. The agreement covers the following Service Level Agreement:
- ShP Limited cover the cost of and provide all marketing collaterals including recycled polythene bags for the phones
- dedicated FREEPOST address
- donation per mobile — £3.50 per working phone
- free courier collection and recycle of phones
- dedicated account manager and monthly reporting
- provision of a webpage on the ShP for Charity website
Since the contract began, ShP Limited has managed to generate thousands of pounds in funding for WCRF which not only supports their research cause but also lowers the impact on our environment.
