WEEE directive
Following an increase in the volume of waste electronic goods, as well as concern over non biodegradable components and toxic elements which are hazardous if disposed in landfill, the European Union has launched a directive aimed at holding each manufacturer financially or physically responsible for their own electronic waste disposal at end-of-life.
ShP Limited will offer a take back service to producers of mobile phones throughout the UK. The manufacturer can then be confident that the equipment they produce, at the end of one life, is recycled for a second life with a new consumer, or disposed of in line with the WEEE directive. In addition to this, the service can also be offered directly to consumers who want to ensure that their redundant hardware is recycled or disposed of in an environmentally-friendly manner.
Based in Lancaster, England is our DCF, which has been approved by the DTi and which operates the DTi Code of Practice for the safe collection of WEEE products.
